On the 27th of October, 2020, we attended exclusively to the presentation of the CONOFEST – International (Short) Film Festival’s first edition, including the première of five short films in the festival. It all happened at the third Jornadas Cinematográficas by Mecal Baleares, that were hosted at the Arxiu del Regne de Mallorca.
The highlight of the event was the screening of the three films premiering in Spain. The pieces are: Fatiya by Marion Dessigne, Período by Danissa Angulo and GNT by Rosemary Vásquez-Brown and Sara Hirner.
Various professionals related to the filmmaking world attended the preview: Among them, Maria Duran y Febrer, director of the Institut Balear de la Dona, Joan Carles Martorell, director of IB3 Television, Neus Ribes from the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics (IEB), Jaume Fiol, president of the Illes Balears Film Festivals and director at the Mostra OUT, Pau Escribano, director and screenwritter, and Ann Perelló, actress and director.
The event was hosted live by Vicka Duran, balearic actress and creator, and virtually by Sara Bamba, who are both the creators of the CONOFEST – International Short Film Festival. The audience was also able to enjoy the festival’s teaser for the fist time, containing music by Jansky and edited by ELORA POSTHOUSE.
From CONOFEST – International (Short) Film Festival we offer the balearic audience, as well as the national and international audience, a festival filled to the brim with stories told from a committed, tolerant, empathic and trustworthy stance. Moreover, this year we want to pay tribute to three women who made history: Clara Campoamor, Sojourner Truth and Rosie “The Riveter”.
Some other news that were made public were the official dates for the feminist short film festival, which, as we mentioned previously, will be held from the 17th to the 21st of December, 2020. CONOFEST – International (Short) Film Festival gifted all the attendees at the event with a full pass for the online festival.
As you can see, this presentation of the CONOFEST – International (Short) Film Festival 2020 included many news and happy moments. We’re profoundly grateful for the warm welcome the screening had, and how the audience responded to the shortfilms.
